TKAM CHAPTERS: 26 TO END

In the beginning of chapter 26, school starts back up and we notice that the children are no longer afraid of the Radley house because they are older, but scout still wants to meet boo. Something that bothered me in this chapter was that the teacher Miss Gates talks about equality during the jews and hitler time period and she was one of the people who walked out of the courthouse saying that it was about time people taught blacks a lesson. She basically went against an innocent man for his skin color but when on to talk about equality? It makes no sense and kind of frustrated me. In chapter 27 it was also bothersome that Bob Ewell was bothering Helen, Tom's wife, but once he was threatened he didnt bother her anymore. This man won the trial but still seemed to hold a stupid grudge over everybody involved for no reason. Next in chapter 28, scout is in the play at school and she runs out too late becoming embarrassed so her and jem wait backstage for everyone to leave before they head home. On the way home when they get attacked you can already infer it was Bob Ewell because of the previous grudges he was holding on everyone in the trial. Scout ends up getting up able to walk home and sees a man carrying jem over his shoulder, once they reach the house Alexandra calls a doctor and we find out Jem just broke an arm. Soon enough scout looks over and sees a pale boy and notices its boo radley and says hi boo. This part was very special because shes all grown up and she isnt afraid at all of him. Jem is unconscious so he unable to meet boo radley, and now Scout has something over jem when jem throughout the story always "knew more." Heck Tate tries telling Atticus that it was not Jem who stabbed Mr. Ewell it was that he fell on his knife, but we know it was actually boo radley who stabbed mr. ewell. They are trying to protect boo radley from going to court. Atticus argues and says it was Jem and he would not have his son protected by the law. Later, scout walks boo home and takes a moment to see life from his point of view because after this she never sees him again. She looks out and notices life in Boo Radleys shoes. She states standing on the Radley porch was enough to understand. She returns home and Atticus reads to her until she falls asleep. This novel really showed us what happens as you grow up and each day you learn more and more and I thought that this novel teaches you a lesson on love, and justice. How its not always achieved, but things happen for a reason. Bob Ewell might have won the trial but he still got his "karma" and died for putting an innocent man away, and driving him to suicide leaving his family behind. So in a way, justice was achieved. The love shown throughout the book isnt just romantic but more family love, how Jem and Scout and Atticus all loved each other and did things for one another, and all the people they have in their neighborhood. The compassion that was shown through the book shows how important family and friends are.
