In these chapters the trial is still going on and Mayella is next to speak. Mayella testifies that Tom Robinson rapes her and takes advantage of her. Atticus then asked her questions about her testimony and asks why she didn’t
put up a better fight, why her screams didn’t bring the other children running,
and, most important, how Tom Robinson managed the crime: how he
bruised the right side of her face with his useless left hand, which
was torn apart by a cotton gin when he was a boy. After questions Meyella burst into tears saying that she will not answer any more questions.
After Mayella, Atticus calls to the stage Tom Robinson. Tom is questioned and says that he did not hurt or rape Mayella. The most shocking part of Tom Robinson testimony was when he said that he felt sorry for Maylla because she was always by here self and didnt have nobody.
threw the Trial jem,scout,and dill meet a man named Mr. Dolphus Raymond, a man people think who is drunk all the time but in reality he is not he just pretends to be drunk because he has a wife who is black and people believe that his actions are because he is drunk but truthfully he just likes blacks better than whites. Mr.Dolphus Raymond is a really great guy.
