TKAM Chapt. 15,16,17
In chapter 15, while Atticus was sitting reading the newspaper Mr. Underwood had his back the entire time with a double-barrel shotgun. This scene really makes me wonder, back then really anything could have happened. Segregation isn't legal but it still isn't followed by quite a few people nowadays and back then it was even worse, so I think Atticus choosing the side of Tom Robinson could really be a turning point for the town of Maycomb seeing as how Underwood had Atticus' back when the group came over shows that maybe indirectly Mr. Underwood believes in Tom and Atticus' court case and that they will overcome the obstacles shown to them and personally I think that this will change the minds of many people in Maycomb and neighboring towns about segregation and the black race, connecting to the Stonesboro boys.
