To Kill A Mockingbird: Chapters 17-19

Chapter 17- Why on Earth would they not have called a doctor for the girl who was supposedly raped?! 

The case "facts": 1) Mayella was beaten and raped by Tom Robinson. 

2) No doctor was called, so no medical evidence.

3) This traumatic event happened just before sundown on November 21st. 

Chapter 18- Something is very wrong here. Mayella is definitely lying and so is her father. Here's what really happened: 

Bob Ewell beat up his daughter Mayella in a drunken rage. Mayella either a) loves her father even though he beat and/or raped her and doesn't want to see him go to jail OR b) is afraid to tell the truth because she doesn't want him to hurt her more for getting him into trouble.

Chapter 19- Her father definitely physically and sexually abuses her. 

Mr. Gilmer reminds me of the prosecuting lawyers on CSI and NCIS; sneaky and extremely rude!
