TKAM Chapters 4-6

When talking about these chapters in class we discussed the narrators (Scouts) unreliability. We came to the conclusion that she's unreliable because she's still young and doesn't really understand what's going on. All she really does is repeat what she's heard from other people. We also discussed how Atticus is a responsible parent although their mother is not in the picture. He tries supporting them and teaching them right from wrong just as any other good parent would do. When he finds out that Dill, Jem and Scout want to contact Boo Radley by leaving him a note, he tells them not to because despite all the rumors they've heard, he's just like anyone else but prefers staying inside and that they have no reason to bother him especially when he did nothing to them. However, in chapter 6, Jem and Dill let their curiosity get to them and break into the Radley house and almost get caught. Upon escaping Jem lost his pants and later had to retrieve them at night when everyone was asleep. However, after this incident he acted very suspicious and became quiet as if he was scared. I wonder what happened or what he saw that made him act the way he did.
