To Kill a Mockingbird 21-22

I understand why Calpurnia pulled Scout, Jem, and Dill out of the court but I guess she should have known that the kids were going to be there anyways. She knew before that the kids were anxious to know about the trial and stuff before. I found it to be interesting when Jem was crying because Atticus hadn't won. He was full of confidence that Atticus would win. Again, the only reason Tom and Atticus lost was because Tom was black. Tom had a much more convincing case than the Ewells. Also, near the ending of chapter 22 when Miss Stephanie states that Mr. Ewell spat in Atticus' face I automatically predict that this conflict is going to lead to when in the beginning of the story when Jem's arm is broken.
