In these chapters we learn what Tom Robinson did and why no one will hire his wife. We also learn that Mr.Ewell

 is low class trash. Atticus also was called to the state legislature for an emergency session in Montgomery. Calpurnia took Jem and Scout  to her church on Sunday and scout learns  that Calpurnias church is much more upfront and honest than her church is. Something the narrator doesn't understand is what the least means when he says to stay away from women.
