Kill a mocking bird 4 & 5

Chapters 4 and 5 were quite interesting with the whole is Boo Radleys alive or not. I'm still wondering what the gum was doing in the tree and who put it there. Maybe someone is putting it there on purpose to draw the children there? Also I think that attempting to put the note in the shutter wasn't a bad idea but it also is not a good idea. I hope that Scout and Jem find a different way to draw Boo out of his house without putting themselves in danger
