To Kill A Mocking Bird: Chapter 1

I find the first few chapters of, "To Kill A Mocking Bird" to be very detailed and vivid. Yet, because of this,  the literature seems to drags on to a point where interest has been lost from the reader, from my point of view at least. And it also doesn't aid that the events in the story seem somewhat dull. Yet, I enjoyed reading the experience involving Boo's getting locked in the courthouse, and Dill's experience of crossing Mr. Radley's yard.
