As the book begins, I feel like the adventures and behavior of Boo Radley is going to affect our main characters as they try to get to know him. Dill is also the only reason that they try to get to know him. Also, even with Boo's behavior and with what he has done, they are not keeping him in jail because 'the sheriff hadn't had the heart to put him in jail alongside Negroes, so Boo was locked in the courthouse basement.'(ch.1 pg.11) This shows that the time period has segregation is shown even for the lowest citizens of society.
